What is IGETC?
The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is an agreement between the California Community Colleges and the University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU). It is a series of courses that transfer students can complete in order to satisfy the lower-division education requirements at both the UC and CSU. Taking these courses in high school at College of the Canyons (COC) or any other community colleges part of the California Community Colleges (CCC) can be helpful to save time and money. It’s also important to complete all IGETC courses before transferring as you will need to satisfy the specific freshman and sophomore requirements at UCs or other colleges.
What are IGETC subject and unit requirements?

Is there a GPA requirement?
All IGETC courses have a minimum grade requirement of C or better (C- grades are not acceptable). Pass/No Pass courses can accept up to 14 units. Keep in mind that the college catalog defines credit as equivalent to a letter grade of “C” or better and the courses should not be a requirement for the major.
Can you use your AP tests to fulfill your IGETC?
You can fulfill IGETC course requirements with some AP exam scores. IGETC course credit may be earned for scores of 3, 4 or 5 on specific AP exams. A score of 3, 4, or 5 on an English AP exam may be used to meet the English Composition requirement (IGETC Area 1A), but not the Critical Thinking/English Composition requirement (IGETC Area 1B).
Do out of state schools accept IGETC?
Yes and no, some out of state schools might accept some credits while others might not. It is your responsibility to make sure to obtain the accurate information about transferring credits. Below is the link to the list of schools that have accepted CSU or IGETC equivalency.
